GETTING IT DONE IN YOSEMITE
The record making weekend turned out to be a huge success in the park for our hang gliding team. The weather was sunny and bright with very few clouds in the sky and visibility from Glaicer Point was breathtaking.
Randy, along with Chief and top notch help from the American Indian Air-Force ground crew launched 18 gliders on Saturday July 28th 2007.
On Saturday the Travel Channel was present to film and document the event, waiting in the LZ for the arriving celebrity Eves Tall Chief (founder of the American Indian Air-Force) and the flock of supporting hang glider pilots who showed up to celebrate the historic event in both hang gliding, and Yosemite National Park history.
Following good landings from the entire flock of pilots and the spot on camera landing of site monitor Randy Sky Walker, the traditional champagne and sweet air began to flow around the LZ in celebration of a job well done. With the proper inebriation at hand by the pilots and ground crew, everyone gathered up for one last meeting to gloat on the days event and plan for the following day on the rock.
Sunday offered fewer pilots for our team but the tradition rolled on as Janet Russo Executive Producer of the Travel Channel, and her film crew Craig and Joel were more than happy to accommodate the teams early schedule for maximum coverage of the day. Placing a high definition camera on the wing of Randy's glider before launch, assured Janet of the shots she was looking for to air on the Travel Channel's new series of National Parks with Yosemite being a featured setting. The show is expected to air in April 2008 and should be on the must see list for everyone who wants to see Yosemite National Park and everything the park has to offer.

Randy began flying Hang Gliders in 1989 and has been fortunate enough to enjoy the Sport with the support of family and friends. Having earned the certification of "expert" Pilot rating by the United States Hang Gliding Association Randy has been privileged to fly in many unique places such as Yosemite National Park, Fort Funston, Mingus Mt. and many others. Randy has enjoyed views and experiences that most people only dream of. He has been a Yosemite Hang Gliding monitor since 2003 assisting in many launches by pilots from all over the world including Japan, South American, and even Brazil.
